Mushroom Manga/Manhwa~

This is Chungky and here’s my first Mushroom Manga post!

Yumemiru Taiyou/Dreamin’ Sun

Author/Artist: Takano Ichigo

Genre: Comedy, Harem, Romance, School-life, Shoujo, Slice of Life

While loitering in the park, Shimana Kameko, who intended to run away from home and skipped school, meets a suspicious man in a kimono. This man, who had been locked out of his house, offers Shimana a place to stay. However, he requests she fulfill three conditions in exchange for her tenancy!?

Remember how I shared some artwork of Bambi no Tegami by Takano Ichigo? Well, here I present to you a work that I love!

This is currently one of my favourites, it has romance and laughter in store and  the artwork is 110% my cup of tea, just look at the illustration above.  Takano Ichigo makes her art-work unique by making the teeth of her characters quite sharp. The male characters also have a more shonen quality to it, rendering them more like studs than what’s commonly seen as ‘bishounen studs.’ The art of the female characters are pretty too, they’re more cute & pretty than beautiful and they have this child-like quality which I find unique.

There are tons of harem mangas but this seems to stand out to me because I can’t quite predict who the heroine is going to end up with(with the amount of chapters I read so far). Most of the main competitors for the girl have so far been given equal coverage, and on top of that, the characters in the whole series are just too likable to me. I better stop before I start into a review length rant! Love love love! (oh, i like zen the most)

Many people divide manga & manhwa as different styles so I respected that and added a new category onto M.W.

Author/Artist: Cho Jung-man

Genre: Adventure, Action, Drama, Fantasy, Comedy, Martial Arts, Shounen, Super-natural

As witches declare war against humans, two-thirds of the world has fallen. They summon monsters called “Supporters” and devastate human residences… but why?

Survivors gather people with the power to combat the witches and called them Witch Hunters! Tasha Godspell is one of the strongest nicknamed “The Marksman” along with his “Jack-O-Lantern” looking Supporter. Like his nickname, “The Marksman,” he fights the witches but cannot really bring himself to hate them…

Go forth witch-hunters! Oh? Wait a second…

Witch Hunter is one of the few manhwa that I follow and on top of that, it’s shounen! (I’m mixing jap & kor terms here, it’s making me very confused). It follows a rather famous and popular plot-line that is – hunting witches. The use of magic and the super-natural are well executed and are very creative and I can’t help but dream of cultivating my own magical power and fight witches instead of living in our mingy own world. I love how the battle sequences are easy to follow and that they don’t drag on with huge complications(this is utter chaos) like some other action-based manga/manhwas I read. The characters all have large and interesting backgrounds which ensures an fantastic journey ahead.

Is it like One Piece or Naruto? This story is much simpler and not as complex, but I think it’s still very much an epic tale. The illustrations always seem to have this rugged and gangster sort of fashion going on, I think the Koreans have some gangster fetish.

Til’ the next growth of a mushroom!
